Ottoman upcycling

I spent the afternoon upcycling two ottomans that I recently purchased from boot fairs. I was hoping to use them for laundry in my new flat.

Firstly, I dusted each ottoman down with a brush to remove any dirt. I then used spray acrylic paint to freshen up the colour (in Elm). Below are the before and after shots.

MOM Clock

I am currently packing in preparation to move into my new flat. So I am coming across lots of random items after years of charity shopping. I was reminded of this little fellow today. It is a MOM clock from Hungary. I paid £1.50 for it from a charity shop near Sidcup. I liked its retro style. I think it is 1970's (so they say on Ebay).

Ginger bread lady

I found this wonderful Tala ginger bread lady cookie cutter today. 50p from my favourite charity shop. She just needs a man now! x

Russian dolls

Russian dolls remind me of my sister. She loved them when she was younger and we use to spend hours taking them apart, lining them up and putting them back together again..... and 22 years on this is still fun!

I am not entirely sure what to do with these. Since reading on wikipedia that since the 1990s there has been a rapid decrease in the production of Russian dolls, I do not want to depart from them!

When the sun came out....

Thank goodness for a weekend of sunshine (finally!). The weekend has been lovely! I went to a few charity shops yesterday and a village fete. I also went to a boot fair this morning (a 6am start on a Sunday, I must be officially crazy!). Anyway, I managed to find some beautiful pieces for my new home. Some more practical than others (but all keepers)!

A total spend of £5.40

Tiny little jug at 60mm high. So cute!

A glass jug for summer drinking

A little pretty perfume bottle.
I love this! It is a jam preserving pan, but I think I am going to use it for storage.
An old enamel backing tin. I love the colour!
I always wanted some unique little teaspoons to use with one of my tea sets.
And I have found some! They are marked with EPSN and have a bishop of some sort on the arms.
I got over excited about this one! A butter spreader knife! Of course, just what I needed!

Gonk or Humpty Dumpty?

My mum picked this up from a bootfair a few weeks ago. She thinks it is something called a 'gonk', that she use to play with when she was younger.  I think it looks like Humpty Dumpty.

Anyway whatever he is, I think he is pretty cool and I want to keep him. I just need to work out what I am going to do with him..... xx
